About Tray
Tray Wellington is an acclaimed banjo innovator whose genre-defying approach bridges folk, bluegrass, jazz, and contemporary roots music. Recognized for his fearless exploration of the banjo’s possibilities, Tray has been honored with some of the most prestigious accolades in acoustic music, including the 2024 Steve Martin Banjo Prize and 2019 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year, and has been twice nominated for IBMA New Artist of the Year.
Tray’s artistry has taken him to stages across the world, from intimate house concerts to landmark performances on Saturday Night Live with Mumford & Sons. He has been featured at premier festivals, captivating audiences with his virtuosic technique, expressive storytelling, & inventive arrangements. His performances are celebrated for their energy, precision, and the way he seamlessly fuses traditional roots music with bold, contemporary ideas.

This is a contribute-what-you-can concert with a suggested donation price of $25. Any and all donations go to the event costs (ensuring the band is paid fairly and has comfortable accommodations, setting up our space optimally, hiring a custodial service for post-event, etc.) and help us to continue offering inclusive events in the future.

We will have designated parking attendants assisting with parking. The Ridge has a large parking lot in addition to street parking along Ridge Road. Parking is not permitted on Ocotea Street. If you need handicap parking, please display your handicap tag and communicate with the parking attendants upon arrival.

The Ridge is a concept born from Ridge Road Baptist Church. It takes an existing church building and seeks to maximize the campus space, offering it up to anyone who needs it. The Ridge currently consists of 5 unique and independent church congregations, a children’s theater, a voice studio, a mental health counselor’s office, several cultural groups, and so much more. We will have a BBQ food truck for purchase (And Also With ‘Cue) in addition to free popcorn and flavored snow cones. In order to best support our vendors, we ask that you do not bring your own food or beverage. Drink coolers are not permitted. Water will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own water bottle!

This is an all-ages show. Ages 3+ require a ticket.
Free parking is available on the campus of The Ridge, located at 2011 Ridge Road. Free overflow parking is available at Highland Methodist Church, located at 1901 Ridge Road. Parking is available starting at 5:30 PM.
Amplified music, open-flame fires, grills of any kind, and drones are not permitted in the parking lots. Activities which interfere with or obstruct other parking spaces or traffic lanes are prohibited.
The Ridge is located within a neighborhood in west Raleigh. Please respect our neighbors.
Food and drink will be available for purchase from 5:30PM until 7:00PM. Outside food and drink is not permitted.
Please place all trash in the cans provided and all recyclable cans and bottles in the blue bins.
Solicitation or the distribution of promotional items on The Ridge campus is prohibited unless prior approval has been received. The Ridge assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged items or for injuries sustained on its campus.
Bags will be checked before you enter the courtyard.
Alcohol, smoking, drug use, and all weapons are not permitted anywhere on the campus of The Ridge.
